Built by Hand, Engineered to Last

We design on paper—old-school on purpose. Each product starts with a blend of creativity, problem-solving, and your guidance, then moves to the bench where every step is done by hand with patience and care. The only power tool we use is a drill—so connections are precise, seating is smooth, and the user experience feels right.

How We Make It

  • Paper-first design: Concepts are sketched, refined, and approved with you before a single cut is made—so the final build matches your preferences.
  • Cut, drill, de-burr by hand: Pipe is measured to spec, cut to length, holes drilled for exact connector geometry, then edges are de-burred and sanded smooth.
  • Surface prep that matters: We remove impurities with an ammonia-based wash, then hand-sand—first 200-grit, then 300-grit—for a consistent, paint-ready surface.
  • Color—layered by hand: We apply primer, then multiple coats of your custom color(s), allowing proper cure between passes. Decals, graphics, and lettering are aligned by hand and sealed.
  • Clear protective finish: A final clear coat locks in color, adds UV/fade resistance, weather durability, and a non-yellowing sheen designed to resist chips and scratches.
  • Only a drill, by design: Using a single power tool keeps tolerances tight and connection surfaces clean—so assembly feels intuitive and every joint seats smoothly.

There are more than enough factories with unhappy teams turning out lower and lower quality. We chose a different path. We build slowly, with love and attention to detail, because we enjoy the work—and you can feel that in the finished piece.

Community & Family

  • Giving back: A portion of proceeds is donated to children’s soccer organizations—helping expand access, training, and community programs.
  • Built with our kids: Our children help in age-appropriate ways to earn for travel tournaments, uniform kits, extra lessons, and other fun goals.

All connector choices, configurations, pipe dimensions, and engineering decisions are developed in-house and approved by you before we build. This is a labor of love for owners who run other businesses—but choose to spend their time here.

PVC vs. metal & wood

  • Metal: rigid but heavy; hot/cold to the touch; can dent or rust; harder to customize at home.
  • Wood: classic look but heavier; needs sealing/upkeep; harder to break down and store.
  • PVC (ours): excellent rigidity-to-weight, accepts premium finishes, tool-free breakdown, easy to refresh.

Materials are lead-free and selected for family use. Always supervise young builders; never climb or hang on frames.

About the Makers

From one dad’s first goal to a family craft studio

I’m John Martinez from Springfield, Missouri. With three competitive soccer players at home, I got tired of flimsy, rust-prone goals that bent, blew over, and couldn’t be moved without a fight. So I built our first goal for my son — solid, beautiful, and portable.

Friends asked for the same thing, and BuildForm was born. Today it’s our family business, where my wife and I teach our five boys work ethic, pride in craftsmanship, and quality over quantity. Every piece is handmade to order in Missouri.
